Editor's review
If you are an expert developer and have developed a very remarkable and innovative application, you must seriously consider the fact that at every point, your application faces the risk of piracy or illegal distribution. Though, you can claim your rights upon discovery of such a practice, but as old saying goes - “Prevention is always better than cure”. So, in order to prevent your application from being circulated illegally, you must use ScarletFace v.1.0 which would provide enhanced security lock against installation of multiple copies of your program on user’s computer. Though, it is not as efficient to evade the expert level attempts but yes, you can remain tension-free as a rookie level user can not evade the security after you have secured your application with Scarletface.
ScarletFace v.1.0 involves an entirely different way which is completely off the general practices of activation keys or online registration. It works purely at the local level i.e. along with the application installshield, which is the point of execution. It has a powerful configuration program i.e. Dev_Scarletface which lets you define the way Scarletface would communicate with your native application and integrate the licensing limitations. This tool can communicate with your application either via Windows messages or on discovery of a certain essential file that needs to be present in the application file system. As and when the user installs your program and launches it, this application would look whether the copy of the software being launched is genuine or not. Apart from Dev_Scarletface, it has Scarlet0.exe that controls the process of your software installation and Scarlet1.exe that executes itself on every application launch to check the license.
Overall, ScarletFace v.1.0 provides the developer with upper level protection. It can be said that this tool is good as an additional security but not self sufficient as some other developer can break its limitations. Hence, it receives an average rating of three points on the scale of five.
